Do we need to tell our clients we use Botkeeper?

It depends on your firm's client and insurance agreements.

Your firm's client agreements and insurance guidelines are two factors that will inform your need to disclose your use of Botkeeper. Ideally, your agreement has a third-party disclosure statement like the one shown below. If not, you can run this sample past your insurance provider to see if it's appropriate to cover you.

Third-Party Disclosure Statement Example

THE STATEMENT PROVIDED BELOW IS AN EXAMPLE AND SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER BEFORE PUTTING INTO USE.
Third-Party Disclosure and the use of Third Party Services Unless you indicate otherwise, you consent to and authorize our firm to transmit confidential information that you provide to us to third parties in order to facilitate delivering our services to you. We only work with established companies that we believe to be reputable and that have demonstrated their commitment to safeguarding your data. As the paid provider of professional services, our firm remains responsible for exercising reasonable care in providing such services, and our work product will be subjected to our firm's customary quality control procedures. Please feel free to inquire if you would like additional information regarding the transmission of confidential information to entities outside the firm.
