Work tips, tricks, and troubleshooting
Running into an issue? Here are some common troubleshooting issues and some tips and tricks for getting the most from Work.
How do I know if I've completed all the tasks assigned to me?
The Work screen gives you multiple filtering options to pinpoint specific tasks and also see a more comprehensive view of work assigned to you. The filters help you only see those tasks you need to work on at that moment or a longer-term view. Additionally, notifications and the notification digests help keep track of work and ensure nothing slips through the cracks.
You can also consult the Work tile under Take Action in Firm Insights. Any tasks needing your attention will be surfaced there.
I don't understand the difference between Upload and Save, and Upload and Complete buttons on some tasks.
When actioning a task in the Work module you may be presented with two buttons:
- Upload & Save
- Upload & Complete
This article will help you understand how each button works and why you may be inclined to pick one over the other.
The Upload & Complete button allows you to upload the requested document(s) to your client’s portal as well as automatically mark the task as completed. This button should be used when you are confident that you have fully satisfied the action requested in the task. Using this button will update the Task Status from To-Do to Done.
The Upload & Save button allows you to upload the requested document(s) to the task, but not upload the document to the pre-mapped location within the Documents module. This button should be used when you have not fully satisfied the action requested in the task, but want to be made aware that the task is actively being worked. Using this button will update the Task Status from To-Do to In-Progress.
I can't edit/update a detail of a task
Not all task details can be edited by anyone. The task status can only be updated by the assignee, and due dates can only be updated by the requester or assignee. Client Admin and Client Ops roles cannot edit any task details.
What's the difference between a Project and a Project Template?
A Project Template is a reusable structure of tasks you can apply across various clients again and again, updating some details to be specific to your client. It consists of a Project name and description, and any number of tasks of different types you wish to add.
A Project is created after adding a template to a client and providing additional task details. It can recur on a set frequency or be used once without recurrence. A Project cannot be created without a template being added to a client first.
